About medical centres in Burnie
Burnie is an industrial north-west coastal city with a deep-water port, set on a hillside above the water. It is one of the wettest, windiest parts of the state, and the weather is a genuine part of life rather than small talk. Homes range from older inner-city stock to hillside builds, and the surrounding country is dairy and forestry, so the city and its rural hinterland are closely connected.
The ranking
Featured listings are marked and appear first. The remaining businesses are ordered editorially by what we could verify from their own material. Order is not a paid ranking, and we do not list businesses we cannot confirm.

Medical Centres in Burnie — common questions
- Does this practice bulk bill?
- Bulk billing is a decision each practice and often each doctor makes, and many now bulk bill only certain groups such as children or concession card holders. Ask before you book, and ask whether the policy applies to your appointment type.
- How long will I wait for a standard appointment?
- Standard appointments are usually a set length and cover one or two problems. If you have several things to raise, say so when booking so you are given a longer slot rather than being rushed.
- What is the gap after the Medicare rebate?
- The gap is the practice fee minus the Medicare rebate, and it varies by practice and by whether it is a standard or long consultation. Ask for both figures.
- Is there after-hours care?
- Some practices run extended hours and there is an after-hours home visiting service in parts of the state. Confirm what is available where you are, since rural coverage differs.
