Do you want to sell your business — fast?
Between 70 and 80 per cent of businesses that are put up for sale never complete a sale. The owner keeps the keys, keeps the stress, and keeps paying for a business they no longer want. It does not have to end that way.
How would it feel if the weight of running it came off your shoulders?
What that weight actually is
The quoting nobody else can do. The staff member who rings you on a Sunday. The BAS, the invoices, the customer who will only deal with you. The 5am starts that stopped being satisfying about four years ago.
Most owners wait for a better year, then a better one after that — and every year the business is worth a little less and costs a little more of you. A clean, confidential sale is the fastest way to get your time back, and the earlier it starts, the better the number is likely to be.
One confidential call is all it takes to find out where you stand.
Barry Marshall · Tasmanian businesses · no listing, no fee, no obligation
How it works
- One confidential call, about fifteen minutes. What the business does, roughly what the numbers look like, and what you want out of it. A confidentiality agreement first if you want one — say so and it is in your inbox before we speak.
- A written offer, or an honest no. Once we have seen turnover, profit and what is included, you get a number with the reasoning behind it — not a range designed to keep you talking. If it is not a fit, you get that answer in the same week.
- Due diligence while you keep trading. We check the numbers, the contracts, the leases and the staff arrangements. Nothing is announced; nothing changes for your customers.
- Settlement and handover. Cash or terms, whichever suits you. A real handover period is included — suppliers, key customers, and the things that only exist in your head.
What we look for
- Established Tasmanian businesses — trades, services, retail, hospitality, agencies. Anything with real customers and a real trading history. Three years or more is ideal; a solid two-year story with clean numbers gets a conversation.
- Owner-operators ready to step back — retiring, worn out, moving on, or just done. You do not need a manager in place.
- Turnover roughly $200k to $5m. Smaller than that and the paperwork costs more than the business is worth; much larger and it is a different kind of deal.
- Messy books are not a deal-breaker. Tidied books are easier, but we have seen worse than whatever is in your drawer.
- Businesses that need work are fine — tired website, no marketing, systems in someone's head. That is usually why it is for sale.
What you will never get from us
- A public listing. Not on this site, not on any other. Your competitors will not learn it is for sale from us.
- Contact with your staff, customers or suppliers without your explicit permission, at any stage.
- A fee. No listing fee, no commission, no charge to be told what your business might be worth.
- The runaround. If we are not going to buy it, we say so plainly instead of keeping the option open.
- A call centre. It is Barry you speak to, every time.

Fair questions
Do I have to tell my staff?
Not until there is a deal and a date. Due diligence happens without them knowing, and the handover conversation is planned with you rather than dropped on them.
What if I am not sure I want to sell?
Then say that on the call. A conversation that ends with “not yet” costs you nothing, and it tells you what the business is worth if you ever do want out.
Is this a valuation service?
No. You are told what we would pay and why — an offer, not a market appraisal. If you need a formal valuation for a bank or a family settlement, you need an accountant, and we will say so.
Why you rather than a listing site?
Because a listing puts your business in front of every competitor in the state and takes most of a year to fail. A direct conversation is faster, quieter, and tells you within a week whether selling at a sensible price is realistic at all.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. No listing fee, no commission, no charge for the conversation or the offer. If we buy, the price we agree is the price.
